O. WRIGHT, we spent a pleasant day in Gaither’s district, making our headquarters at Henderson’s Mill, now the property of Mr. Augustus STARR. We were welcomed by Messrs. STARR, W. H. and G. W. EDWARDS, W. M. MCCART and a few others. The young corn and cotton look well down there considering the dry weather. Grain in abundance has been planted and a few showers will insure a good crop. Bear Creek is being thoroughly drained and no more fevers will be heard of in that section. Mr. Jack MEADORS has his farm in fine condition, so has Uncle Billie MCCART, Hank? EDWARDS and other industrious men in that favored region. We fished a while in the shoals and caught a 6 ½ pound carp. We were told, while there, that every time any one caught any fish in the shoals that Uncle Billie MCCART would run to his trap and then go up in the pond and put out a fresh trot line. Also, that Billie EDWARDS would get up a crowd and move his fish trap every time the wind changed. We carried our dinner, but had several invitations to dine. At noon Mrs. G. W. EDWARDS sent down a pot of strong coffee, a big bowl of sugar, cups, saucers and spoons. The people in Gaither’s district are hospitable and social, and as a rule are moral and religious. We return thanks for the kind treatment extended during our day at the Mill.
