W. S. KING, of Kings, was in this section one day this week. ~MR. and MRS. W. T. CRAWLEY, of Social Circle, visited relatives here Saturday and Sunday. ~MISSES JOSIE and FANNIE WEBB, of this place, are attending the Normal School at Athens. ~MISS LILLIAN BIGGERS spent this week in Covington, as the guest of MISS BELCHER. ~Several of our people attended the Institute this week. Among them were MESSRS. W. A. ADAMS, J. P. RICHARDS, and MISS SUSIE DYER. From Woodlawn ~MR. P. D. COFFEE and wife spent several days in Walton, visiting relatives and friends. ~AUNT BETTIE BARBER, of Winton, is the guest of MRS. S. F. ADAMS. ~MISS IDA LOYD, of Newborn, has returned home after spending a week very pleasantly with her sister, MRS. E. H. ADAMS. ~MR. J. W. SOCKWELL, of Winton, passed through our ville Monday. ~MR. W. L. ADAMS made a business trip to the city, Monday. ~REV. J. L. HAYS and wife were the guests of their son, MR. CLAYTON HAYS in Jasper County Saturday and Sunday. ~MR. J. O. ADAMS and family, of Dixie were the guests of his mother, MRS. R. E. ADAMS recently. ~MR. W. F. ADAMS has treated himself to a new bicycle. I guess he will enjoy it. From Starrsville ~It is very gratifying to MR. BONHAM JOHNSON’S friends to learn that he is convalescent. ~MR. LOVE HARWELL, of Newborn, and MISS JULIA ADAMS, of Dixie, were visitors here last Sunday. ~MR. and MRS. C. U. SKINNER entertained quite a number of young people at their hospitable home last Friday evening. Games were played until a late hour. Ice cream etc., was served in abundance. As the young people wend their way homeward each one seemed to feel happier, after spending a few hours so pleasantly. ~DR. N. Z. ANDERSON and MR. FELIX FRANKLIN, of Eudora, visited relatives here last Sunday. ~DR. F. S. BELCHER is still quite sick, although he is improving. ~There has been quite an improvement in the looks of our roads since such good work has been done on them. The street from MR. T. A. STARR’S residence has been made four or five feet wider, and it looks much better. We think it should now be called “Broad Street.” From Almon ~MR. W. S. MARBUT has been indisposed for several days, the result of an overheat. ~Some gentlemen from Conyers, are spending a few days with MR. J. M. HOLDER, fishing. Several fine cats have been hooked. ~MRS. MURRAY, we regret to chronicle, is seriously ill, and but little hope is entertained of her recovery. ~A most delightful afternoon was spent in a sacred song service at the home of MR. L. ML SHERWOOD last Sunday. MRS. GARDNER favored the crowd with some beautiful solos. ~MR. JOHN MADDOX, of Atlanta, and MR. ELISKA MADDOX of Conyers, were in our town Tuesday. ~DR. L. A. LEE and sisters, MISSES ANNIE and ALLIE LEE, MR. LAMAR WOOD and sister, MISS MATTIE WOOD, of Conyers, spent Tuesday last with the MISSES HOLDER, at their beautiful suburban home. ~MR. JAMES ELLIS, had the misfortune to lose a fine old mule Tuesday night. Supposed to have died from cancer. ~MR. D. T. STONE and daughter, MISS SUSIE, of Oxford, visited friends here Sunday. ~MR. and MRS. AUBREY ALMAND, of Conyers, were the guests of MRS. ALMAND’S parents, MR. and MRS. ROBERSON last week. From Newborn ~MRS. J. L. DUKE continues quite ill. ~MRS. DR. R. MURRELL of Machen, is the guest of MRS. J. L. DUKE. ~MISS MAE CHILDS returned home last Friday much to the delight of her many friends here, after spending three weeks very pleasantly with her sister MRS. J. J. CARTER, of Social Circle. ~MISS GARRETT, a very charming young lady of Social Circle is the guest of MISSES HELENE and ALICE PITTS this week. ~MISSES ADIE HARWELL and ALICE ADAMS will leave Saturday for Eatonton where they will spend some time with relatives there. ~MR. LUM COEROFF of Madison was shaking hands with friends here Tuesday. ~MRS. C. T. PITTS has been quite sick the past few days. She is no better at this writing. ~DR. WILLSON and MISS ANNIE PERRY spent a portion of last Sunday in Covington. ~MR. J. O. STANTON, MISS ABIGAIL and MISS EULA TAYLOR spent Sunday at Shoal Creek, the guest of MISS MARY SPEER. ~MISS LUDIE BLASINGAME one of Monroe’s charming beauties is visiting her sister here, MRS. G. W. MURELL. From Hayston ~MR. C. L. HARWELL and wife spent last Sunday with relatives in Covington. ~MRS. C. I. CASH, of Covington has been visiting relatives here. ~MISSES ANNIE LOYD, JANIE and MR. EMMETT ADAMS were among the visitors here Sunday. ~REV. J. E. COWEY and niece, MISS JENNIE HOPPER spent last Sunday at Newborn. ~MISS PEARL GRANT, SADIE LASSITER and MR. OSCAR GRANT, of Leguin visited MR. S. R. McCART’S family last Sunday. ~MRS. W. E. HARWELL and beautiful little daughter Ellen, are visiting her mother in Marietta. ~MRS. LIZZIE MIDDLEBROOKS, of Putnam County, is visiting her son MR. BOB MIDDLEBROOKS. ~MR. NICK HAYS, of Barnesville, has been visiting relatives here. ~MRS. PITTS of Covington, is visiting MR. J. B. EPPS family. ~MRS. R. L. HOLLIS has gone to Atlanta to spend a while. We wish for her a pleasant visit. ~MESSER’S. J. E. COUEY, CLINT, HOMER and MISS LEMMA JACKSON attended the teachers examination and Institute. ~MISS CLAUDE OSBORN, has returned home from Covington, where she has been helping her aunt, MRS. N. J. TERRELL. We are glad to have her back again. ~MR. HARP HAYS and MISSES DOSIA and JOSIE HARPER, of Porterdale, visited relatives and friends here Sunday. ~The singing at MR. J. L. COFER’S last Sunday night was enjoyed by all who were present. ~MISS BESSIE HEARD has returned to her home in Covington, after spending two weeks very pleasantly here.
