It was sponsored by the Matron’s Class which live organization does so many fine things for the Baptist church. The lighting of the scenes was under care of Mrs. Dennard and Rev. John King, which contributed greatly to the success of the pageant. The Three Wise Men, Rev. Walker Combs, Col. Reuben Tuck and Mr. Burton were splendidly robed and performed their parts to perfection. The Shepherds, Messrs. Tom Heard, W. K. Lunsford, Rucker Ginn and Ben Brooks took their parts like professionals, and the Angel, Miss Brownie Perry was a perfect picture of beauty. Mrs. Combs, as Mary was a dream of impersonation, while Joseph taken by Mr. L. C. Smith, filled the part splendidly. Mr. J. C. Upshaw, the “reader” was clear, distinct and impressive. The chorus consisting of Mrs. J. L. Callaway, R. M. Tuck, E. G. Merck, W. K. Lunsford, E. S. Stevens, Ben Brooks, Mell West, Misses Harriet Stradley, Sylvia Adams, Rebecca Perry, Sara Clyde Hutchens, Margaret Dodd and Messrs. C. J. Norman and George Robinson, each in robes and holding candles made a most delightful and solemn back ground for the affair. Mrs. George Cochran, as manager and coach has reason to be very proud of the achievement.
