SCOMP gained in good looks during his visit to Europe. ~EDWARD CARR’S bird dog has been disabled for hunting. ~Dr. E. V. BRANHAM speaks of making his home in Covington again. ~JOHN NORTON has had his residence recovered and otherwise improved. ~Bailiff MCCORD has gathered his crop of fish baskets from Yellow river and hung them out to dry. ~Persons who desire to place tombstones over their beloved dead, should call on J. S. THOMAS at once. ~Judge THOMPSON, of Jasper County, will be with us during the time for payment of guano notes. ~JOHN AVERY and GEORGE WOODRUFF set up with their Rocky Plains friends Sunday. ~Dr. SAMUEL H. LINDSAY, of Stone Mountain, spent a day or two with friends here last week. ~Judge TERRELL, of Midway, has another curiosity in the shape of a chicken. ~ROBT. W. BAGBY has just received a ___ of pure whiskies especially suited to the taste of the sick. ~JOHN C. FLOWERS has been afflicted with chills and fever since our last. ~STEVE DAVIS tells us that there are plenty of partridges on his place near Snapping Shoals. ~Rev. B. V. WEATHERS commenced a protracted meeting at Snapping Shoals Sunday last. ~Judge NOLAN and wife of Florida, are on a visit to their friends in Henry County. ~Miss FLORENCE TUCKER, a talented Covington young lady, is teaching music in an Indian Territory College. ~DOLPH NORTON has given the editor a fine Berkshire shoat. This act is convincing proof that DOLPH’S heart is located in the right place. ~An old Negro by the name of BILL BELCHER killed eleven squirrels before breakfast, on Alcova river, Friday morning.
