S JARBOE’S restaurant. ~Capt. LEVY is having the BERRY place put in good order. ~DAVID THOMPSON has recovered from a brief spell of sickness. ~T. J. ADAIR is the new post master of Conyers. ~W. S. CARROLL has some very fine corn on his rich bottom land. ~Solicitor General WOMACK paid his respects to the circus in Atlanta, Saturday. ~STONE STEADMAN divides his time between printing and working in the Machine Shop. ~A mad dog was killed on Esquire C. W. TURNER’S place one day last week. ~Happy JOHN THOMPSON, colored, picked his banjo and sang his songs here Friday last. ~TALMAGE RICHARDS has concluded not to enter journalism in Covington for the present. ~Col. E. Y. CLARKE, of the Atlanta Monday Morning Mail will pay our city a visit soon. ~Thieves have been stealing corn and pumpkins from THOMAS WALLACE and ALEX BORDERS. ~No rheumatism can be discovered in HENRY HORTON’S bones when he goes hunting and flushes a big black snake. ~A saloon keeper by the name of GEORGE JONES defied the authorities of Conyers last week and put out for parts unknown. * HOME AND OTHER AFFAIRS ~WALTER B. SUMMERS and JOHN H. ECHOLS leave for Florida this morning. ~Elder WILLIAM ADAMS is recovering from a severe spell of sickness. ~Ex-editor WHITE, of Conyers, one of the cleverest railroad men in Georgia, was down to see us Tuesday. ~Doctor DOUGLAS has bought General HENDERSON’S residence and will move his family to town. A welcome wait’s the fine physician and clever citizen. ~EDWARD EVERETT killed a mad dog on the streets of Covington with a brick bat Tuesday. The dog belonged to ALEX WILLIAMS, of Oxford. ~Squire MURPHY, of Cedar Shoals, held court here Monday on account of Justice HARRIS being at home with his wife who has been quite sick with fever. ~Doctor F. WALKER, of Jasper County, lost his large barn at the hands of an incendiary Monday night. Nine head of cattle, four mules, one horse and over 400 bushels of grain perished in the flames.
