Mr. Bradshaw preached an interesting sermon at the Presbyterian Church here Sunday. ~James F. Peek, has a promising crop of corn, cotton, goobers, potatoes, etc. ~Rev. Mr. Freeman preached at Liberty Church, near Cedar Shoals, Sunday. ~Mr. Hiram Elliott, of Henry County, is recovering from a stroke of paralysis. ~Mrs. Tomlin, an inmate of the poor house, got permission to visit some of her acquaintances Sunday. ~Col. Zachry can grind wheat as well as corn at his Peach Stone Shoals Mill. ~Rev. George Johnson, colored, proposes to give "persons" attention to his barber shop. ~Robert Daniel and his right hand man, Harris, is prepared to cut your hair and shave you nicely. ~On Friday last Mr. Robert Lemons sent us a cotton stalk 18 inches high that had 8 squares on it. ~Mr. T. P. Callaway, wife and little daughter Minnie are visiting here. ~Dr. J. C. Clark has been on the sick list but is well enough to visit his many patients. ~N. C. Lee handed out lemonade to his friends Saturday without money and without price. ~Solicitor General Womack has been "ailing" but is up and on the road to health again. ~Gov. McDaniel is doing his duty and the press and people will sustain him. ~Dr. Wright told John Henderson's fortune the other day. Get the Doctor to tell yours. ~Thomas Taylor is recovering from a severe rising on his hand. Tom speaks of moving to Atlanta soon. ~Dr. Mabry and Scott Bird, of Walnut Grove, were in to see us Saturday. Crops look well in their section. ~Tax Receiver Thompson was on hand Saturday and said it would not be his fault if anyone was double taxed. ~Norris Hale, the wide awake editor of the Conyers Weekly, was down to see his many friends here the other day. ~Hon. Lucius L. Middlebrook and Henry Horton caught an 18 pound blue catfish, on a set hook in Alcova river, Saturday morning. ~McDonough has seventeen widow's and Editor Brown, of the Weekly continues to remain a bachelor. ~Judge Sewart will re-sentence Alf Doyal at the August term of Spalding Court. Doyal will probably be the next man to climb the "golden stair."
