TONY BAKER tells us that fifty or sixty dollars has been raised to build a new colored Baptist Church in Conyers. He says the white people of Conyers will aid them when they get ready to build. He also tells us that Rev. SAMUEL S. S. BROADNAX, state missionary, preached two forcible sermons for him at Shady Grove, Rockdale County, Saturday and Sunday last. Let the good work go on. ~JOE HARRIS, who cut WASH GALLIGER and then took leg bail, was captured by Bailiff KING, of Oak Hill district, and brought to town Thursday. The trial was set for Friday, but WASH had “gone a fishing,” so his wife said, and up to this writing has not returned. Being cool here it is surmised that he went abroad in search of calmer waters. However sufficient evidence was secured to bind Joe over to the Superior Court, while ZOL HUDSON, an accomplice, was released. All the parties are colored.
