The Georgia Enterprise October 30, 1868
     On yesterday the citizens of Covington had the privilege of forming the 
acquaintance of this accomplished gentleman, the Democratic candidate for 
Congress from this District. We regret that a dry severe hoarseness prevented 
him from attempting to make a regular speech; but in the few remarks he did 
make the tone of earnest determination rang out clearly to cheer of the 
Democracy of the county, giving the assurance that he was not daunted by the 
senseless exultation of the Radicals over their sight pluralities in the 
elections on the 19th.  He bids us be of good cheer; for all will yet be well.
