After an absence of some twenty-three years, I found that many changes had taken place, but it was old Covington still, and the home of my childhood. One can never know, until they have tried it, how pleasant it is to go back and meet the kind friends and loved ones at home, and be with them for a while; yes, it is so pleasant to be with the dear old Mother and once more be embraced in the loving arms that caressed us in years gone by; but the pleasure was quickly ended, for my visit was short, and the time soon come to say farewell to the loved ones, perhaps never to meet again on this side of the shining shore, but not without the blessed assurance that we would sometime meet where parting would be no more. After a travel of about 30 hours, I found myself back at home, where loved ones were watching and waiting for me. I was very much pleased with your remarks on the “Mother-in-law.” I too think there can’t be too much said in her praise.
