The Georgia Enterprise January 24, 1889
     Hon. J. J. Dearing retires from the position of Mayor for two terms with 
the thanks and well wishes of all his people. He has made a most worthy and 
satisfactory officer. His administration has been progressive and yet not 
extravagant. May he find rest and peace in the private walks of life and may 
happiness and prosperity be and remain with him while here on earth he dwells.
