G. Hardeman, Wil Eakes and R. C. Cook, citizens of the districts from which it is proposed to make the new district, and they are hereby appointed commissioners, whose duty it shall be to lay out and define such lines, and report the same to the Board of Commissioners of Roads and Revenues of Newton county at their next regular meeting in September. T. A. PERRY, Chairman Board Commissioners. GEORGIA, Newton County, To the Hon. Board of Commissioners. We the undersigned commissioners, appointed to lay off the new district, known as the Oxford District, beg leave to submit the following report: We unanimously recommend the boundary lines to be as follows: commencing at a point on the Northeastern boundary of Covington, where the road to Jersey intersects said boundary at the termination of Pace street; thence along said road, in a northerly direction, to a point near Mrs. Mary Cook’s residence, where said road intersects the south boundary of lot 316, of ninth district, as shown by map of Newton county, on file in the Ordinary’s office; thence in a westerly directly along the south boundary of lots 316, 315, 314, 313, 312, of said 9th district, and 426, 425, 408, of 4th district, to a point of south boundary of said lot 408 of said 4th district, where Big Gum Creek intersects South boundary of lot 408; thence along said Big Gum Creek, in a southeasterly direction, to a point where said creek empties into Yellow river. Thence along said river, in a southerly direction, to a point where the Georgia railroad intersects said river, thence along said Georgia railroad track, in an easterly direction, to a point where the Northwestern boundary of Covington intersects said railroad; thence along said boundary line to the beginning points. COOK Commissioners, Filed in Office November 19, 1894 The report of the commissioners appointed in this case, to lay out and define the lines of said Militia District having been filed in this office, and after examination, and the Board being satisfied that a sufficient number of persons subject to militia duty reside within the boundary lines of said New district, and that enough persons are left in the old districts from which said new district was taken to form a Captains Militia Company, and there being no objections filed, the same is hereby approved by the Board, and all the proceedings in said case ordered to be spread on the minutes of this body.
