C. Anderson, who lives near Starrsville, had the misfortune to lose his large and elegant residence with all its contents. It is supposed that the wind blew open the cook room door and scattered the coals that were in the fireplace over the floor. The wind was blowing a perfect hurricane at the time and Mrs. Anderson and her children barely escaped the burning building with their lives. The Doctor was away on professional business and nothing whatever was saved from the well furnished house. By economy, industry and hard work, Dr. Anderson had erected a home of comfort for himself and family and in less than an hour's time the fire fiend had rendered this good man and his loved ones without a shelter with which to cover their heads. Sad indeed is this item of local news, and we are sure that the people of Newton county will lend a helping hand to this worthy gentleman in his terrible misfortune. He has friends who will insist that they be allowed to share at least a small portion of his heavy burden. There was no insurance and not less than $3,000 will cover the loss sustained. Our heart goes out in sympathy to him. This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/gafiles/ File size: 1.7 Kb
