Thirty- five or forty names were enrolled as members, the officers were elected and the organization put in shape to be perfected at the meeting Thursday night, Feb. 17. The officers are: J. G. LESTER, Foreman J. M. DEARING, First Assistant C. C. BROOKS, Second Assistant J. W. PEEK, Third Assistant T. D. GUINN, Secretary C. H. WHITE, Treasurer Let every citizen who has the interest of the city at heart attend every meeting. Surely the city government will make a liberal appropriation to this neccessary and most worthy organization. When everything gets under full headway and the success of the enterprise is assured we will give a list of the officers and men who compose the company and have a great deal to say on the subject, but what we need now is solid work and substantial encouragement from the business men and the property owners of the town. Let not this neccessary move be crippled by withholding municipal aid from it. Appropriate committees have been appointed to look after and arrange matters and in a short while we hope to be able to announce to the world that Covington has one of the best equipped and most vigilant hook and ladder companies in the south. Our young men are willing to do the work and all that is now needed is a littel money to pay for the outfit. This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/gafiles/ File size: 2.0 Kb
