The Georgia Enterprise
  About 40 old maids in Covington met at their Hall Wednesday night and passed
the following resolution:
  Resolved, That the example of Messrs. Branham, Simms, Brown, Thompson, Floyd
and other old bachelors in Covington, is a serious drawback to the cause of 
matrimony, and we call upon them to either marry or go West. We want husbands
but these fellows seem so gay and happy in their garb of single bliss that every
sixteen year old boy turns up his nose at the idea of such a thing as marriage.
The meeting then adjourned amid sobs.
  In justice to these young gentlemen, we will say, they are making every effort
in their power to step off this Fall. They have already organized a "Prevention
of Cruelty to old Maids" Society.
