He and a negro were cutting a piece of timber when the darkie's axe flew it's helm, the blade striking Mr. Cox below the knee on the inside of his leg, severing two large arteries. Dr. E. H. Yancey was called in and by skillful efforts prevented the wounded man from bleeding to death. The accident occurred about one mile beyond Cedar Shoals. At last accounts he was rapidly recovering.
