G. Haygood has just had placed over the grave of her distinguished husband, Dr. Atticus G. Haygood, a very handsome memorial monument, in the cemetery at Oxford. The monument is of Italian marble, and the shaft is 11 feet in height. It is well proportioned in shape, and while it appears rather plain, yet it is very neat, and seems entirely to be in keeping with the taste and character of Bishop Haygood for simplicity and unostentation. The monument was built by Messrs. Butler Bros., Marble and Granite Works, of Marietta. They are represented in Covington by Capt. G. D. Heard, who did the work of putting up the monument himself. Capt. Heard has put up a large number of memorial monuments in this section, but none of them, we believe, is handsomer or more appropriate than the one he has just placed over the grave of Dr. Haygood.
