Covington, Ga., July 17th, 1897
     The Democratic Executive Committee of Newton County  met at the Court 
House today in response to a call of the Chairman. On motion, Capers Dickson 
was elected Secretary of the meeting. The Committee then proceeded to the 
transaction of business. Managers of the Primary Election to be held on August 
6th, 1897, were appointed as follows:

     The following resolutions were adopted:
     Resolved, That the returns of the Primary Election to be held on Aug. 6th, 
1897, be consolidated at noon on the following day, by the Managers of the 
Election, assisted by the Chairman of the Democratic Executive Committee, and 
that he declare the result of such Election by publication in the county papers.
     Resolved, That all Democrats, who are qualified voters at the time of said 
Primary Election, or will be at the time of the Election for a member of the 
Legislature to be held on Aug. 17th, shall be allowed to vote in said Primary 
Election.
