MR. EDITOR:- We had a very heavy rain in this neighborhood on July 19th, which caused the streams to get very high. Mr. Belt McDonald, of Henry county, attempted to cross Wild Cat Creek, near Robert Harvey’s, between Rocky Plains and Snapping Shoals. He and his buggy and mule were carried down stream about one hundred yards. With the aid of a colored man by the name of Frank Porter, he and the mule were rescued. The buggy was carried about a half mile further down the creek where it was recovered. Mr. McDonald lost his hat and everything he had in his buggy. He was returning from Covington, where he had been to make some purchases. It is providential he and his mule were not drowned. That ford is very dangerous, after every heavy rain, and our County Commissioners ought to have the creek bridged at that place, before some one is drowned. Respectfully, J. W. L.
