W. Curtis and beautiful little daughter, Jewel, visited relatives here Sunday last. ~Mrs. Effie Curtis has returned home after a pleasant visit with relatives at Rutledge. ~A good number of the young people of this place went to the celebration at Newborn Saturday. All report a pleasant time. Billie said he didn’t get enough to eat. ~Mr. and Mrs. Will Aiken of Pennington, visited their father and mother Saturday night and Sunday. ~Uncle Hugh White of Covington spent three days here very pleasantly with friends and relatives last week. ~Elder J. D. Curtis, returned Monday night from Jasper county where he has been preaching. ~Mr. Jody Carter of Shoal Creek visited Mansfield Saturday night. ~Misses Irene Hays and Nannie Aaron of Hayston, were visitors at the club Saturday night. ~Mr. Walter Crenshaw of Newborn, was in our midst Saturday night and Sunday. ~Misses Florence White and Jettie Curtis visited our city last Tuesday. ~Mr. N. J. Terrell of Monticello was in our midst Tuesday. ~Uncle Tommie White, one of Newton county’s oldest inhabitants is now staying with Mr. H. C. White. We are glad to have him back again but regret to say he is in very feeble health. FROM WINTON ~Mrs. J. S. Butler has returned to her former home in Philadelphia. ~Mr. I. P. Pearman of Greensboro was here on business one day last week. ~Miss Leila Stanton spent Saturday and Sunday in Social Circle. ~Miss Fannie Patrick one of our most cultured young ladies visited relatives in Newborn last week. ~Mrs. W. T. Patrick is on the sick list, may she soon be restored to health again. ~Miss Addie Hurst a most charming young lady of Hawkins academy spent last week with her cousin Mrs. Lizzie Hurst near this place. ~Mr. G. B. Stanton of Social Circle spent Sunday with his brother, Mr. I. A. Stanton at this place. ~Mr. Robert Cook attended preaching at Harris Spring Sunday. ~Misses Edna and Lilla Stanton of this place and Messrs. Clifford Gibbs and Wirt Johnson of Social Circle made a flying trip to Rutledge to attend the exhibition Friday night. ~Elder J. A. Jordan of Stone Mt. preached an interesting sermon to a large congregation at Harris Springs Sunday last. FROM HAYSTON ~Little Tommie Ozburn has returned home after a pleasant visit with relatives in Atlanta. ~Several from here attended the Sunday School Celebration at Newborn last Saturday, and report a very pleasant time. ~Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Barker are happy over the arrival of a baby girl. ~Miss Claude Ozburn came home again from Covington last Saturday. ~Mrs. J. M. Radford and two little daughters, Mattie Lee and Mary Lizzie, of Covington, spent a few days with her sister Mrs. C. L. Harwell. ~Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Starr, Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Banks, of Starrsville were among the visitors here Sunday last. ~Rev. J. M. Radford, of Covington preached a very earnest sermon here last Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock. FROM DIXIE ~Mr. and Mrs. Finer Lunsford visited relatives in Morgan recently. ~Mr. W. A. Dyer is repairing and making some additions to his residence. FROM WOODLAWN ~The farmers are very busy, rain much needed. ~Mr. J. C. Cavender who has been very sick, we are glad to say that he is improving very fast. ~Misses Annie and Ida Loyd, of Newborn, was the guest of their sister Mrs. E. H. Adams, Sunday. ~Mrs. S. E. Thacker of Kings, has returned home after spending several days very pleasantly with Mr. F. M. Hays and family. ~Mrs. E. H. Lunsford and sister Miss Nervie of Dixie, visited their sister Mrs. J. J. Adams recently. ~Miss Lemma Jackson of Hayston was the guest of Misses Evie and Mary Hays recently. ~Miss Vandelia Thacker of Kings had been spending several weeks with her Uncle, Mr. F. M. Hays where she has charge of a music class. We wish her much success. ~Mrs. H. B. Adams and sister Miss May Rogers of Winton was in our midst Sunday visiting relatives. ~Messrs Claude and Homer Adams and Jim Davis of Winton, made us a short call Sunday on their wheels. Come again friends. ~Mrs. R. E. Adams paid her son Mr. J. O. Adams a visit last week. ~Mr. J. O. Adams and family of Dixie was in our midst Sunday visiting relatives. ~Mr. E. W. Adams and lovely sister Miss Janie was the guest of their cousin Miss Julia Adams of Dixie, Saturday and Sunday. ~Mr. W. T. Adams and Miss Ella attended preaching Sunday. ~Mr. P. D. Coffee and wife is making their home at her mother Mrs. S. F. Adams until they rebuild. FROM NEWBORN ~Quite a large crowd attended the convention here Saturday, had a very interesting program from each Sunday School also a very interesting talk from Brother Ledbetter on how Sabbath School should be conducted last but not least was a nice dinner which seemed to be enjoyed by each and every one. ~Rev. Glenn preached an excellent sermon Sunday to a large congregation. We were very sorry we could not have him with us longer, but on account of sickness he was compelled to return Sunday afternoon. ~Miss Janie Perry one of Covington’s charming beauties was the guest of her cousin a few days the first of the week. ~Mrs. Bush and her charming daughter, Miss Mattie and Mr. R. H. Bush are visiting here, the guest of Mrs. L. P. Duke. Mr. Bush will return to his home in Thomson in a few days. Miss Mattie and Mrs. Bush will probably spend several weeks here. ~Miss Helene Pitts was quite sick a few days last week, not able to attend the convention Saturday. ~Messrs. J. E. Gray and M. R. Parker of Atlanta were among the visitors here Saturday night and Sunday. Come again young men you seem to cause bright smiles wherever you go, in Newborn. ~Mr. A. J. Stanton has been on the sick list for several days glad to see you back at your place Alva. ~Miss Florrie Lee, one of Starrsville beauties was the guest of her cousin, Mrs. J. T. Pitts, Saturday and Sunday. Come again Miss Lee when you can stay longer, we are always glad to have such charming, attractive girls visit our little city. ~Mrs. A. E. Robinson was the guest of her sister Mrs. Ann Gay several days last week. ~Mr. Frank Childs has been quite sick at his brothers Mr. W. W. Child’s about a week or ten days. We hope we will soon be up and well again. ~Miss Fannie Patrick was the guest of her cousin Miss Rosa Patrick several days last week. ~Messrs C. W. Camp and Will McDonald spent a few hours here Sunday evening.
