They had not been fishing very long before the little fellow in some way fell into the river. As soon as his cry for help was heard his father jumped into the stream to rescue him. The cry of the father and son for help attracted the attention of Mrs. Skinner and Miss Bessie Bradley and they hurriedly rushed to the river bank to help save them. They were successful in rescuing the little fellow by pulling him to the shore, but Mr. Woodruff was going down for the third time, and it was impossible for them to save him. The father's effort to save his son cost him his life, and but for the heroic work of Mrs. Skinner and Miss Bradley, the boy would have also found a watery grave. Mr. Woodruff leaves a wife and two sons besides his parents and numerous other relatives. His remains were interred at Austin's Chapel Saturday afternoon.
