The Covington News

  The regular September term of the Newton Superior Court will convene next
Monday morning, and there is a large docket to be disposed of , not-
withstanding the fact that the City Court has worked up a number of cases
since the last term.
  Judge Roan will be on the bench and Wm. Schley Howard will be in the
solicitor's box. One thing which marks this session of the court as being
somewhat under the average for this county is the absence of trials of 
capital crimes. During the past six months there has been very little
serious crimes committed and the bulk of cases for trial are for mis-
demeanor offenses and of parties seeking to untie the marital knot. There
are several dissatisfied married people in this county and they are carrying
their family troubles to the court house for adjustment.
  Following is the calendar of cases taken from the docket which are set
trial at this term of the court:

  Sallie May Pickett vs. C. D. Pickett, libel for divorce.
  Mary Childs vs. J. A. Scott, complaint.
  R. W. Tucker & Co., vs. John Childs and Mary Childs, Claimant, claim,
fi fa and bond.
  Mary Tate vs. John Tate, libel for divorce.
  Jane Yancey vs. Charley Yancey, libel for divorce.
  Althia Gaither vs. Marion Gaither, libel for divorce.
  Mrs. Bessie Cook vs. Amos Cook, complaint.
  C. P. Carr & George M. Carr et al vs. Newton County Oil Mill, petition
for injunction & c.
  Lula Middlebrook vs. Harry Middlebrook, libel for divorce.
  W. A. Curtis, et al. vs. Town of Mansfield and Mansfield Lumber and
Construction Co., complaint.
  Jas. P. Howard vs. Lula H. M. Howard, libel for divorce.
