O. Gwynn, of Pike County, last Thursday night. The Sheriff took a number of deputies to arrest Delk on a true bill for robbery and assault, and was shot down on Delk's porch, without a moment's warning. Hon. John F. Madden attempted to rescue the dying man and was shot and both legs were broken. Delk and his two assistants then escaped from the rear of the house. Sheriff Gwynn was in Covington not long since and has many friends in this section who will be pained to hear of his tragic death, which was nothing less than assassination.
