J. M. Pace, spent several days in Atlanta this week on legal business. ~Mr. J. W. King, one of King’s most sterling citizens spent Wednesday in the city on business. ~Mr. N. C. Adams, of Starrsville, was shaking hands with his numerous friends here one day this week. ~Mr. P. D. Coffee, of Winton, was here a short while Wednesday on business. He is one of Winton’s best farmers and a man of influence in his community. ~Mrs. O. S. Porter and Mrs. John Porter left Monday morning for Tampa, Florida, where they go to spend several weeks in the Land of Flowers. ~Presiding Elder W. R. Foote, of this district, spent Monday in the city trying to find a place for himself and family. We hope he will succeed, and welcome this good man among us. ~Rev. R. J. Bigham, who was stationed here several years ago, was in the city one day this week. He has a host of friends here, who are always glad to see him and to know that he is in the community. ~Editor T. Coffee, of the Lithonia Standard, a new paper which was born during the holidays, was here Wednesday in the interest of his paper. He is a hustler, and we hope for him much success in his endeavors. ~Mr. Preston Worsham, after spending several days with his parents here, left Thursday for his home in Greenville, S. C. He is conductor on the Southern Railroad, that runs from Greenville to Spencer, N. C. ~The last issue of the Jackson Argus contained a very complimentary notice of their new pastor Rev. S. B. Ledbetter. The Argus said he was comfortably quartered and the people of Jackson was greatly pleased with him. ~Master Clifford Henderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Henderson broke his right arm just above the wrist, while playing at school Tuesday. Dr. Griffin, was sent for immediately, and set the broken limb. He is doing well at present. ~Miss Ethel Belcher, one of our brightest and most intelligent young ladies, left Wednesday for LeGuinn, where she goes to assist Miss Pearl Belcher in her school at that place. This school is one of the best in the county, and is in a most flourishing condition at present. ~Mr. Ernest Lee, who for several years past has been in the employ of the Simmons Hardware Company, of St. Louis, Mo., is at home for a short rest. Mr. Lee is contemplating giving up his position, and returning to Covington to take charge of his father’s business at this place. He is a young man of fine business ability, and would make the business “hump,” should he decide to take charge of it.
