S. PEEK made a business trip to Atlanta Thursday. ~Mr. B. BOORSTIN, spent several hours in Atlanta Thursday. ~Col. FRED FOSTER, of Madison, was here Wednesday on business. ~Mrs. R. U. THOMASON, of Madison, was visiting relatives here Sunday. ~Mayor T. C. SWANN, spent a couple days in Atlanta last week on business. ~Mr. B. L. COOK spent several days of last week with friends and relatives in Walton County. ~Mrs. VAUGHN, of Elberton, was here several days of this week seeking a location in the hotel business. ~Mr. F. C. DAVIS, has received his appointment from Commissioner O. B. STEVENS, and has entered actively upon the discharge of his duties. ~Mrs. J. W. HOLLINSWORTH, of Conyers, spent several days of last week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. STEPHENSON, on Floyd Street. ~Miss LENA UPSHAW, after spending several days as the guest of her sister, Mrs. C. A. SOCKWELL, left for home in Social Circle Friday morning. ~We are in receipt of a letter from T. R. ZACHARY and son, to announce that they will be here some time this month, with a large assortment of garden seed. ~Mr. W. W. CORLEY and family, of Atlanta, spent Sunday with relatives and friends here. Mr. CORLEY is head bookkeeper of the firm of BATES, KINGSBERRY & Co. ~At the Methodist Church here last Sunday were the usual services. The pastor Rev. S. B. LEDBETTER preached two powerful sermons and received two new members, by letter. Jackson Argus. ~Editor J. T. SNOW, of the Social Circle Sentry, was in the city Wednesday on business, and while here made the Enterprise a pleasant visit. Brother SNOW is a clever, genial gentleman, and is giving his people a good paper. ~The many friends of Mrs. O. W. STEWART, will be glad to know that she is able to be out again, after being confined to her room for several weeks. She had the misfortune of falling and breaking her ankle, about the 1st of January. ~Captain I. D. TODD has rented the LOYD house, on Floyd Street, and will move his family into it in a few days. He is a conductor on the Central Road. We welcome them among us, and hope their stay here may be pleasant and advantageous. ~Dr. W. F. GLENN, editor of the Wesleyan Christian Advocate, occupied the pulpit at the Methodist Church last Sunday morning, and preached an able sermon to a large audience. The pastor Rev. J. N. SNOW, preached an interesting sermon at night. ~The Library is making arrangements to give an entertainment for the benefit of the Library at an early date. A committee composed of Mrs. W. D. TRAVIS, and Miss CHARLIE PORTER and ROSA BELLE KNOX have been appointed to get up the entertainment will go towards buying more books for the Library. ~Mr. D. W. TITSHAW, who has been in the tailoring business here for several years, left Monday for Louisville, Ky., to accept a position with KAHN Bros. By strict application to business, courteous and kind to all he gained the confidence of every one, and it is regretted by all that he saw fit to go to a new field.
