A. CANDLER was down in Savannah last week. ~Mr. W. H. PETTY visited Greenesboro during the week. ~Mr. Edward BARNES, of Jasper County, was in Covington, on Wednesday. ~Mr. C. E. HENDERSON, of Marietta, was here on Thursday and Friday. ~Mr. G. W. JOHNS, a prominent citizen of Social Circle, was in town Monday. ~Miss Susie CUNNINGHAM, of Stansell’s district, is visiting her sister, at Buckhead. ~Ben HILL and James G. BLAINE were the two greatest orators in congress since the war. ~Solicitor Dick RUSSELL, of Athens, has recently moved to Jug Tavern, where he will hereafter reside. ~A loose bear has been giving the people of Greene County considerable alarm during the past week or two. ~Mr. J. W. GIBBS, of Social Circle, was here on special business with the Knights of Honor, on Wednesday. ~Patrick COLLINS commenced life as a cabinet maker, and now the politicians are trying to make a cabinet out of him! ~Mr. and Mrs. W. C. COOK, of Brunswick, have been spending the week with Mrs. V. C. CONYERS, on Monticello Street. ~A woman lead in the vote for United States senator, in the North Dakota legislature, last week. Two women are candidates. ~It is now thought by his friends that Hon. A. O. BACON will be a candidate for United States Senator, to succeed your Uncle Alfy COLQUITT. ~Mr. G. O. MABRY, who has been employed by Mr. R. W. BAGBY in Charleston for several months past, has returned home, and will go back to his farm. ~Mr. G. M. HEIDT, of Savannah, who is 63 years old, matriculated at the University of Georgia, at Athens, last week. He is undoubtedly the oldest student in the whole country. ~Miss Ella Warren SULLIVAN, the beautiful and intellectual daughter of Dr. SULLIVAN, of Cartersville, has gone to Cincinnati, where she will take a three years course in the Cincinnati Dental College.
