GENE LEE, of your city, was driving a “spanking team” and looking his best. ~Messrs. HANCOCK and TAYLOR, the patent plow men, have been to see us. The old men take to the plow, the young men to the nice turnouts, and the ladies to the owners of the patent. ~SAMUEL ROBINSON and his two brothers, AVERY and TOM, left for Texas last week. Our opinion is they had better remained in old Georgia where they could have kept their money and health and retained their good morals. ~Misses OPHELIA HODGES and EMMA PITTMAN, two of Butts County’s most charming daughters, have been on a visit to this district, the guests of Misses MAGGIE and MOLLIE WEBB. We hope they will not let this be their last visit. ~JAKES SAMS has about recovered from his spell of fever. He paid Henry County a visit and it is said that the atmosphere around Wynn’s Mill was too hot for him at this session of the year, and so he got sick. That’s what we loved. ~Rocky Plains district is a little quiet at the present time, nothing unusual occurring with the exception that the old ladies meet and pass resolutions that they will not encourage. Dr. HAYGOOD in any of his advanced Negro elevation ideas. If anything, they express their sentiments upon the man and his doctrine with more vim and energy than do the old men. They like GEMES MONROE and the editor of the Enterprise, and think very much about going up to town in a body and giving him a “shake” and a kiss. So look out, for Rocky Plains ladies hardly ever go back on their word, especially the old ladies.
