Mr. Harris, of Monroe, Ga., delivered an interesting sermon at the Baptist Church Sunday morning. ~Mr. S. H. Starr, Sr., of Starrsville, left on a visit to friends and relatives at Sunny Side, Ga., last Saturday. ~Mr. W. A. Hicks, formerly of this place, has bought a lot and will build a residence thereon in Monticello. ~President Livingston is said to have made one of the best Alliance speeches of his life at Madison last Saturday. ~Miss Alma Hightower, daughter of Mr. J. R. Hightower, has been chosen principal of the art department in the high school at Tennille, Ga. ~Mr. Dr. Talmage will preach the commencement sermon at Emory College this summer. Hon. Flem G. DuBignon will deliver literary address. ~After a long spell of sickness the pleasant face of Esquire Franklin Wright can again be seen on our streets. ~Mr. Miller Brooks, an experienced druggist, now of Madison, will return to Covington and take a position in the drug store of Brooks & Ivy. ~Dr. Armstrong, of Atlanta, gave another recitation here Friday evening which was appreciated by those present. ~Mr. C. E. Cook has purchased the vacant lot near the Baptist Church and will erect a handsome residence thereon. ~Prof. J. H. Richards has 60 scholars at Bethany Academy. His son, Mr. Ed Richards, is assisting him in the school room. ~Rev. Mr. Anthony, of the South Georgia Conference, preached a regular camp meeting sermon at the Methodist Church Sunday morning.
