E. COOK’S new residence will soon be completed. ~Mr. and Mrs. MARCELLUS SPEER spent Friday in Wyatt’s district as the guests of Mr. and Mrs. JEFF COOK. ~Mr. CHARLES F. ADAMS and bride spent Sunday at the home of their father, Elder WM. ADAMS. ~Mrs. JNO. B. DAVIS has returned from a delightful visit to relatives and friends in Brunswick. ~It is said that Rev. W. A. PARKS has a Jersey Cow in Oxford that gives over five gallons of mild a day. ~Mr. J. K. STEWART has been visiting Jeffersonville, Ind., and Louisville, Ky., this week, as the guest of his uncle, JEFF D. STEWART. ~Miss SALLIE WELLS, one of our most talented and popular young ladies, is recovering from a severe spell of sickness. ~We learn that Capt. ED COX, of Atlanta, has expressed a desire to won and run a stock farm in Newton County. ~Mr. WILLIE COOK has purchased the residence of Mr. JAMES MELTON, on Clark Street, and will move to town at an early day. ~Mr. JNO. F. HENDERSON will head the young men’s prayer meeting at the Methodist Church, next Sunday at 5 p. m. Every man and boy in the county invited. ~Rev. W. H. MCMEEN is recovering from a severe spell of sickness. Dr. MORGAN CALLAWAY of Oxford, filled his appointment at the Presbyterian Church here last Sunday. ~Doctor J. C. ANDERSON, of Starrsville, was called to see a serious case of sickness in Walton County, Monday. He is one of the best physicians and finest surgeons in the State, and his services are in constant demand by people at home and abroad. ~Mrs. W. H. LAPRADE, of New Orleans, will attend a meeting of the Foreign Missionary Society, at Washington, Ga., in June, and will probably stop over a few days in Covington on her return home. A generous welcome awaits her coming. ~Mr. HOUSTON A. JONES has returned from a delightful visit to friends in Forrest City, Ark., and other points in the west. He met his friend Major GEO. SEABORN, who took HOUSTON under his protecting wing and saw to it that he had a good time. WISE AND OTHERWISE ~If you want nice fresh honey call on J. F. MCCORD. ~$50.00 REWARD. A. B. JOHNSON, of McDonough, has moved to Social Circle, and will begin the publication of a weekly paper, the Sentry, at an early day. He is a young man of energy and brains and will give the people of old Walton a newspaper worthy of their support and patronage.
