WRIGHT has a large turtle basket and expects to catch those shy reptiles by the drove. ~Mr. and Mrs. W. R. INGRAM and family are spending a week or two with relatives in Putnam County. ~Mr. JNO. C. FLOWERS has returned from a months sojourn in Tennessee. He is looking well. ~Rev. Dr. J. M. BRITTAIN , of Atlanta, spent a day or two of last week here as the guest of Mr. W. B. Lee. He was in fine health. ~Mr. COLEMAN IRBY and family, of Atlanta, have been on a visit to relatives in town and Rocky Plains district. ~Mr. ALFRED N. HAYS has purchased two improved road scrapes and is busy putting Monticello Street in first class order. ~Capt. W. B. HAYGOOD, of Covington, will erect a handsome six room cottage on the dummy line between Decatur and Atlanta. ~Mrs. Dr. J. W. NELMS and children, of Atlanta, spent several days here recently as the guests of her brother, Mr. N. C. LEE. ~Miss HOLDER has a fine school at Almon. She is an excellent teacher and very popular in the school room and out of it. ~Mr. S. D. LEE has purchased a building lot from Col. MIDDLEBROOK, on Floyd Street, and will erect a new residence there soon. ~Misses SUSIE and ANNIE WELLS, of Atlanta, are visiting their cousin, Miss ROBBIE FRANKLIN, of Newton County. They will also visit Covington as the guests of Miss NELLIE WOMACK. ~Mr. T. C. COWAN has a writing school at Salem with 34 scholars. He is a fine penman and will teach at several points in the county during the present year. ~Mr. CHARLIE SWANSON has returned from a pleasant visit to the county of Greene. He reports good crops and says he had a fine time fishing, eating water melons and talking to the friends of his youth. ~Mr. LITTLE DOOLITTLE, of Atlanta, formerly of Walton County, was elected Manager of the Alliance warehouse for one year, at meeting of the directors last Saturday. He is said to be an active and experienced business man. ~Mr. JAMES T. COOK has purchased a lot near the Alliance Warehouse and will erect thereon a building in which to manufacture his celebrated Newton County High Grade Guano. TOWN AND COUNTY, EVERYTHING AND EVERYBODY ~Mr. L. A. MALCOLM of Social Circle spent Sunday here. ~Miss MATTIE RICHARDSON, of Rutledge, is visiting Miss MINNIE TERRELL in Midway. ~If you desire a nice building lot, near the depot, call on Capt. J. M. PACE at once. ~Mr. GEORGE LUMMUS tells all of us that fine rains have visited his section and crops look well. ~Miss DELLA BLASINGAME, an accomplished young lady of near Social Circle, is visiting Mrs. COL. ROGERS on Floyd Street. ~Col. J. G. LESTER complimented some of his young friends with a moonlight picnic on Yellow River, at Porterdale, one evening last week. ~Mr. M. D. TERRELL and family will make their home in Covington. Mr. TERRELL continues his manufacturing business in Macon for the present. ~Mr. W. C. CLARK and family left for Morehead City, N. C. Monday and will take a month’s recreation in that delightful section of our southern country. ~Mr. S. H. STARR, Sr., of Starrsville, and Miss ANNIE HEARD, his granddaughter, of Covington, have returned from a pleasant two weeks visit to Atlanta and Salt Springs.
