LIVINGSTON is dangerously sick at her home on Floyd Street. ~Mr. W. C. CLARK is slowly recovering form a severe spell of sickness. ~Mrs. HARRY CAMP continues in feeble health. ~Mr. J. W. PURRINGTON is recovering from a severe bilious attack. ~What is the matter with Emmett WOMACK when it comes to selecting a Senator for the 27th district? ~Mrs. Franklin WRIGHT is spending some time with her daughter, Mrs. Addie CHESNUT, of Savannah. ~Several days ago, Samuel CHESTNUT, of Rocky Plains, had one of his front fingers badly cut in a gin. Wednesday, while at the depot looking after the unloading of some cotton, a bale fell on him and hurt him quite severely. This good man has about recovered from the injuries received. May no more accidents befall our old friend. ~Mr. A. H. S. DAVIS is teaching a class in penmanship, at night, in Music Hall. He is a master of this art and his prices are always reasonable. Arrangements are being made so that he can give 24 full lessons to school children at one- third the regular tuition price. Now is the time to give the girls and boys writing lessons at a cheaper price than ever before offered by a competent teacher. ~Mr. T. A. STARR has one of the largest and best assorted stock of goods, in his store at Starrsville, that we ever saw outside of a large town or city. He has a fine trade and deals in the best goods to be found in any of the markets. It is a pleasure to trade with “Dolph,” and his genial brother, Capt. S. H. STARR, for they are always in a good humor and have a kind word for every customer and caller. ~Miss Minnie MABRY, a most excellent and cultured young lady, has a flourishing school at Anderson Chapel, three miles south of town. As a teacher she is kind and attentive to every pupil, and yet she has her school well disciplined. The people in that section are to be congratulated upon securing the services of so worthy and efficient a teacher, and show their appreciation of her worth and merit by giving a liberal patronage and substantial encouragement. ~Mr. Augustus STARR has two of the best arranged ginneries in Middle Georgia, one being located at Starrsville and the other at Henderson’s Mill. At the first he has ginned over 700 bales of cotton this season, and at the other over 500. His mills, shops and farms all pay handsomely. He is a large land owner and a tireless worker. He is a model young man in every respect and free from all the vices so often found in many of the young men of this day and generation. Polite, social, kind and courteous, it seems strange to us that friend, “Gus” can remain so contented and happy without some fair one “to love and to caress.” He says, however, that he can’t find any one who will have him. NEWBORN NEWS ~Capt. Robt. CHILDS has returned from Florida. He killed a dozen deer and had a fine time. ~Miss Mattie GLASS has a flourishing school at Sewels and is giving satisfaction to parents and pupils. ~Mr. J. R. DUKE has moved to the country, a few miles from town, and will farm on an extensive scale this year. ~Miss Fletcher PENNINGTON, of Shady Dale, is attending school at Palmira Institute, one of the best educational institutions in the State. ~The young people had a fish fry at the pond of Mr. R. A. PITTS a few evenings since. W. E. STOWE and R. A. PITTS were the “bachelor belles” of the occasion. ~Mr. W. W. CHILDS, has just finished sawing a bill of fine lumber to build a new home. He says this is the third bill he has sawed for this same purpose, but he is fully determined to build this time. No other special local news, so I will write no more now, for somebody “you know” is very anxious to see the prettiest and best girl in Georgia tonight.
