J. E. McConnell left on a 30 days visit to Texas Tuesday. ~Rev. W. W. Wadsworth spent part of Monday here. ~Mr. B. M. Hollis and family will move back to town this fall. ~Mr. Wm. D. Elliott will farm in Stansell’s district next year. ~Col. Livingston will speak in Lawrenceville Saturday. ~Mr. David H. Roberts continues to remember us with fine Jumbo melons. ~Mr. Joseph H. Douglas, of Anniston, Ala., spent several days of this week in Covington. ~Mr. Charles Everitt came back from Birmingham one day last week, but will return in a few weeks. ~Messrs. Thompson & Farmer opened their warehouse at the depot Monday and are now ready for business. ~Miss Nellie Womack owns the finest horse in the county and is one of the most graceful riders in the city. ~Mrs. T. N. Pitts, of Atlanta, spent Tuesday here. Report says she will go into the hotel business in Covington this fall. ~Rev. C. C. Spence, of McTyiere, spent Monday here. He left for home Tuesday and as usual carried a fine setter pup with him. ~Mr. I. W. Meadors can be found at the new ginnery, near the depot, after Sept. 1st. Ike will keep plenty of cotton bagging on hand. ~On Monday last, in company with half a dozen friends, we spent a pleasant time at the hospitable home of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Adams. A 48 pound watermelon and a large basket of fine peaches was interviewed during our visit. May our friends live long and always be happy, healthy and prosperous. ~Miss Ella Callaway and her brother, Tommie, of Troy, Ala., and their cousin Miss Lena Callaway, of Rutledge, Ga., have been visiting Covington as the guests of Judge and Mrs. J. M. Belcher. Tommie is a fine musician, and his performances on the piano were much admired by those who had the pleasure of hearing him.
