A. C. MACALLA, of Conyers, for Judge of the Stone Mountain Circuit. ~Mrs. W. E. MCCALLA, of Decatur, is suffering with a severe attack of rheumatism. ~Mr. J. C. HILL has been on the sick list for several days past. Hope Lum will soon get well. ~Mr. James COOK, one of our oldest and best citizens, comes out in town almost every fair and pleasant day. ~Judge P. E. BANKS, who has been on the ailing list so long, is looking well and says he feels better than he has for several years. ~Mrs. Franklin WRIGHT has returned from an extended visit to her daughter, Mrs. CHESTNUT, in Savannah, greatly improved in health. ~Mr. Charlie DENNARD, a handsome young man and prosperous farmer of Rockdale County, spent Saturday and Sunday here. ~Rev. R. W. BIGHAM will begin a series of meetings at the Methodist Church here, beginning next Sunday night, April 30th. ~Doctor and Mrs. J. J. DEARING expect to visit relatives in Savannah at an early day. May they have a delightful and healthy time. ~Mr. Walter B. PERRY, is recovering from a severe attack of LaGrippe. We are glad to se our friend out again, and trust he will soon be well and in perfect health. ~Dr. W. B. YANCEY is now practicing dentistry in Jackson, Ga. He is a fine dentist, clever and social and we trust he will meet with the success his merits deserve. ~Mr. R. M. EVERITT has been seriously sick for several days past, but is reported to be slowly improving, to the delight of his many friends here and elsewhere. ~Rev. Dr. Morgan CALLAWAY and Rev. Winn JOYNER will deliver temperance lectures, at the courthouse in Covington, on Saturday next, April 30, at 10 a. m. Everybody invited. ~Mr. Edward HEARD spent most of last week in Alabama, looking after some business matters in that state. His pleasant face was missed from our town. This leads us to remark that no better or more honorable man ever lived or died in Georgia than is Mr. Edward HEARD. Long live our friend and happy may he always be. ~The Athens Banner tells us that “Rev. Morgan CALLAWAY, alumnus of the University and an eloquent divine, has be selected to deliver the baccalaureate sermon next commencement. Dr. CALLAWAY is vice-president of Emory College. This is a good selection and it is hoped that the reverend gentleman will accept the invitation.” TOWN AND COUNTY ~Merchant S. P. THOMPSON has as handsome a selection of spring and summer goods as was ever seen in any Georgia town. ~Lost or Stolen- Two full grown Blue Belton setter dogs, male and female. A liberal reward will be paid for information that will lead to their recovery. R. M. MCINTOSH, Oxford, Ga. ~Col. LIVINGSTON is reported to have said: “While I have not announced myself a candidate for Congress, I have proposed that if it will settle this matter, I will go into primaries with Col. Peek in his own county, Rockdale, and if he can carry it I will retire, provided that the Third party will shut up shop if they do not get a majority.” What say you, Billie? ~Rev. R. D. PERRY, Pastor of the Covington Presbyterian Church, and Elder Samuel M. SULLIVAN, were in attendance upon the Atlanta Presbyterian last week, and report a very full meeting. One candidate for the Ministry licensed, and four others received for licensure. Rev. Mr. PERRY was delegated by that body to attend the meeting of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in the United States, to meet at Hot Springs, Ark., on the 19th of May, ‘92. This is a high, as well as a deserved compliment to a most excellent, earnest and able Minister of the Gospel.
