M. SPEER has treated his wife and daughter to a handsome new carriage. ~Mr. Jeff D. STEWART, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, has been on a visit to relatives and friends here. ~Mr. Joe W. WRIGHT has returned from Atlanta and will make his home for the present in Covington. ~Col. S. P. SMITH, the popular Jackson County fruit tree man, is with us for a while. ~Mrs. A. E. MCDONALD has bought a lot from Judge NEAL on Floyd Street, and will erect a handsome residence thereon. ~Mrs. SMYSER and her charming daughter, Miss Annie, of Louisville, Ky., are visiting our city as the guests of Mrs. J. A. STEWART. ~Presiding Elder R. J. BIGHAM and family expect to spend a week or so with relatives in North Georgia at an early day. ~Mrs. L. L. MIDDLEBROOK and Mrs. Mary HUNTER, of Covington, spent a day or two recently visiting friends in Conyers, as the guests of Mrs. J. N. HALE.
