J. Corley are boarding with Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Thompson. ~Miss Sue Harris will spend the winter with friends in Savannah. Trust she will have a pleasant time in the city by the sea. ~Rev. J. T. McLaughlin, of Fairburn, has been on a visit to his many friends here and is in the best of health. ~Rev. Mr. Swanson, an able Baptist divine, will preach at the Baptist Church here next Sunday morning and night. Everybody cordially invited to attend. ~Miss Mamie Griffin after an absence of several months, visiting friends and relatives near Cartersville, has returned home, much to the gratification of her many friends here. ~Miss Sallie Anderson, of Forsyth, is teaching in the art department of our grade school. She is a young lady of many accomplishments, and is deservedly popular in the school room and our of it. ~Mrs. M. A. Dorsett and daughter, Mrs. Willie Reed, will accept many thanks for a waiter of seven varieties of nice cake. These good ladies generally remember the editor when a big dinner or a wedding feast is spread at their hospitable home. ~Mr. Alf C. Perry, who has been a clerk in the U. S. Collector’s office in Atlanta for many months, was asked to vacate the other day and make room for a republican. It is hardly necessary to say that friend Alf is a democrat. Mr. Perry Chisolm filled the vacancy. ~Miss Hattie Anderson, of Atlanta, took first premium at the Exposition for best display of free hand crayon portraits. Mr. Wm. B. Henderson’s baby boy won first prize $50 carriage, for being the finest boy under one year old, at the baby show. Miss Anderson is a daughter of Dr. W. A. J. Anderson, of this county. Mr. Henderson is a son of Judge Henderson, Commissioner of Agriculture. ~A republican has relieved Maj. J. C. Flowers as storekeeper at Col. R. W. Bagby’s distillery. Of course friend John is a democrat and ought not to grumble because “the rascals” are being turned in again. These things will be remembered when our folks get control of the appointments after 1892. However, the new storekeeper, Capt. Greer, is a polished gentleman, an ex editor, and a decided improvement over a vast majority of republican office holders.
