P. Thompson, is slowly recovering from a dangerous spell of sickness. ~Mr. E. F. Potts of Almon, speaks of leaving our state and county after December first. ~We are pleased to learn that Mr. Jeff Cook, of Brick Store district, is recovering from a long and serious spell of fever. ~Miss Lena Harris, a very charming young lady from Jasper County, is visiting friends and relatives here, as the guest of Miss Ila Harris, on Railroad Street. ~Mr. N. C. Lee, we learn, has purchased the old Shepherd corner, on the public square, from Mr. Franklin Wright and contemplates moving the wooden buildings away next summer and erecting in their stead a handsome brick store house. ~Capt. J. E. McConnell and family, of Brick Store district, have decided to make their future home in the far west, and will move in a short while. The Captain has returned from Texas where he purchased one of the best plantations in that state. It is with regret that we part with these good people, and wish them health and happiness wherever they go. ~Mr. James T. Cook, has sold his Longwood residence, near Brick Store, to Mrs. Charles Haynie. He has also purchased the home place of Mrs. Newton Anderson, in this city, and will move here soon. Esquire Samuel Murphy has bought the old Aaron Kitchens place, two miles south of town, from W. R. Ingram and will move to it soon. Mr. Sidney O. Cook has bought the P. E. Banks residence and plantation and will make his home there at an early day.
