He speaks at 2 p. m. ~Mrs. C. D. PACE is slowly recovering from a severe spell of sickness. ~Mr. Sam MCKINNEY is recovering from a dangerous attack of fever. ~Mrs. Cap. JOINER, of Atlanta, has been visiting Covington as the guest of Mrs. J. G. LESTER. ~Mrs. J. G. LESTER and Mrs. Richard LESTER are visiting relatives in Montgomery, Ala. ~Miss Clara ANDERSON, a very pretty young lady from Atlanta, has been visiting relatives here. ~Hon. W. L. PEEK will make a Peoples party speech in Covington on Saturday, June 18. See notice. ~Presiding Elder R. J. BIGHAM spent two or three days of this week among his many friends in Augusta. ~Miss Hattie ANDERSON, a very lovely young lady from Atlanta, is visiting Mrs. H. B. ANDERSON, on Washington Street. ~Prof. Willie GRIFFIN, of Florida, came up to Emory commencement and will remain in this section until September. ~Mrs. J. A. STEWART is slowly recovering from a serious spell of sickness. We trust this most excellent lady will soon be restored to perfect health. ~Mrs. Dr. Wm. BROWN and daughter, Miss Lula, have returned from Florida, and will spend the summer at their home in Covington. ~Mr. Frank WOODRUFF, now of Dooley County, has been on a visit to friends and relatives here. ~Our old friend, Hon. John T. HENDERSON, of Atlanta, has announced that he will be a candidate for State Commissioner of Agriculture. ~We regret to learn that Mr. Willie M. ANDERSON, recently of Covington, has been quite sick at his new home in Texas. ~Miss Clara PERRY, who has been quite sick for several days is improving, to the delight of her many friends here and elsewhere. ~Mr. Milton MICHAM, of Orlando, Fla., is visiting friends and relatives in Newton County. He has prospered since he went to Florida and is deservedly popular at his new home. ~Capt. J. M. PACE left on Saturday for Providence, Rhode Island, to attend a meeting of the Royal Arcanum. He will spend a day or two in New York and Washington City before his return. ~Mr. Wm. H. STANTON, of Brick Store, is up and about again, after a serious spell of sickness. He was able to be in town Saturday to the gratification and pleasure of his many friends here. ~Mr. John N. BRADSHAW, an old Covington boy, has been re-elected clerk of the court of Orange County, Florida. Mr. BRADSHAW is a young man of honor and ability and his successes are watched with interest and delight by his many dear friends in Georgia.
