J. KELLY has returned from a business visit to Jasper County. ~Master WILLIE LAPRADE, of New Orleans, has been visiting friends here. ~Dr. WILLIAM TRAVIS has gone north to complete his professional education. ~Mrs. T. P. CALLAWAY, of Lexington, is visiting her children here. ~We learn that Mr. JOHN M. AARON has accepted a clerkship in the town of Jackson. ~Hon. O. S. PORTER has returned from an extended business visit to the north and east. ~Mr. W. C. CLARK and family have returned from a six weeks sojourn at Morehead City, N. C. ~Mrs. A. B. SIMMS and children have returned from a months visit to relatives in Greene County. ~Mr. BENJAMIN ELLINGTON and family now occupy the Weaver residence, on Clark Street. ~Col. J. W. ANDERSON, wife and daughter, spent several days of last week with relatives in Clark County. ~Mrs. JAMES A. FARMER spent several days last week with her parents in Rockdale County. ~Master SPENCE VANHORN, of Monroe, spent several days here last week with his grandmother, Mrs. S. C. SPENCE. ~Mr. J. N. WOODRUFF will make his headquarters at the Gate City Ginnery, near Covington depot, for the next several months. ~Judge and Mrs. W. P. ANDERSON will spend some time with their daughter, Mrs. E. D. MARTIN, of Oglethorpe County, having left here Sunday. ~Miss SALLIE WELLS and Miss Mamie Banks have returned from Indian Springs. ~Mrs. TURNER, of Jonesboro, one of the best ladies in Georgia, is visiting her daughter Mrs. S. P. THOMPSON. ~Judge BOYNTON came over last week and granted charters to the Covington Land and Improvement Company, and to the Carmel Land Company. ~Tuesday last Gov. NORTHEN appointed Hon. W. A. LITTLE, of Muskogee County, (ex- speaker of the House of Representatives,) assistant attorney general. ~Miss NELLIE WOMACK will attend a private school in Atlanta this fall, spending Saturday and Sunday of each week at her parents home in Covington. ~Mr. and Mrs. CHARLES F. ADAMS have returned from a lengthy visit to relatives in Alabama, and are now at home to their many friends in their elegant residence on Monticello Street. ~Mr. HARMON H. HARVEY, of Monticello, spent a day or two at Salem Camp Meeting last week. He was looking well, having about entirely recovered from the injuries received by a fall from the new hotel at Indian Spring last June. ~Capt. W. B. HAYGOOD and family will make their future home in DeKalb County, moving there in October, if not before. We dislike very much to lose these good people as citizens, but wish for them a life of peace and plenty in their new home. ~Miss TALITHA SPEER, one of Newton County’s fair daughters, has returned to the LaGrange Female College, and will graduate with honor next summer. May she be healthy and happy during her absence from home and loved ones here.
