The Georgia Enterprise September 27, 1888
     Mr. Spence Everitt, aged 20 years, committed suicide by shooting himself 
in the breast with a shot gun, Tuesday morning last, He lived in Stansell’s 
district, about 6 miles from town, and was highly respected by all who knew 
him. Rumor has it that a love affair prompted Mr. Everitt to seek death at his 
own hands. We decline to go into a sensational recital of the particulars of 
the unfortunate and tragic occurrence.
