James S. Boynton, judge of the Flint Circuit, held a special term of Newton Superior Court today for the purpose of passing on the application of Messrs. C. S. Porter, J. F. Hanson, J. M. Johnson, H. M. Comer and Joseph B. Duckworth for a charter incorporating them and their successors as a body corporate under the name of "Porterdale Mills." The application is heretofore reported, was filed May 27th, and as it appeared that the law had been fully complied with in regard to the matter the charter was granted The company is authorized to manufacture cotton and wool into yarns, cloth and other goods, and also to manufacture all manner of products from wood, metal and other material. They have a large number of hands employed and have already done considerable work toward the proposed enlargement of the old factory and erection of new buildings.
