George W. Johnson, colored, sends the following account of a pleasant affair which came off in the “high colored circles” of our city. He also tells of his church work. We give it as “pictured and adorned” by George, with “trimmings, titles,” etc., etc.: Editor Enterprise; Thinking that the public might like to hear about the first Tin Wedding ever celebrated in this county by my race, I send the following: Tuesday evening, Feb. 11, a happy company assembled at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Robert F. Wright to participate in the pleasant event. The marriage ceremony was performed by the writer, and the attendants were, Mr. R. T. DANIEL with Miss LULA BASS; Mr. GEORGE TAYLOR with Miss WILL CLARK, and Mr. WADE U. S. GAUGER, with Miss CARRIE WATTS, of Arkansas. The music was lead by Miss MATTIE TURNER, assisted by Miss MAMIE TAYLOR, Mrs. CARRIE ADAMS and others. Mr. JESSE TAYLOR marched in front of the pair with a bright lamp to light them on the way to the table which was groaning beneath the good things which had been placed upon it. Every one eat heartily and enjoyed themselves splendidly. Over $25 in useful presents was given the couple. It was an occasion of rare employment. At 12 o’clock good-byes were said and all retired to their respective homes.
