A. Thompson spent several days of last week in Augusta. ~W. H. Evans and his son, Walter, spent a day or two of last week at the Augusta Exposition. ~Hon. Luke Campbell, of Jasper County, spent Friday evening with friends in Covington ~Mr. I. W. Meadors returned Saturday from a pleasant visit to friends and relatives in Alabama. ~Josie Wright, colored, lost his house by fire Saturday night. It was situated about one mile south of town. ~Editor E. S. Steadman attend the Weekly Press Convention in Augusta, Friday and had a fine old time. ~Hon John I. Hall is made chairman of the judiciary committee of the State Senate. ~Rev. L. H. Harris was on the sick list first of the week but is up and about again. ~Mr. Geo. D. Butler and family have moved to their new home recently purchased from Dr. Higgins. ~Dr. J. S. Carroll, one of the best dentists in Georgia, can be found at his office in the Star building. ~Rev. Walter R. Branham celebrated his 75th birthday Sunday by preaching one of the best sermons of his life at the Methodist Church here. ~We learn that Rev. R. J. Bigham will preach at the Methodist Church here next Sunday. Everybody cordially invited to attend.
