KING, railroad builders, are doing some fine work on our streets. ~Hon. HENRY L. GRAVES will be called upon to introduce several local bills during the present session of the legislature. ~TOM DICKERSON, colored, charged with various thefts, was captured in Chattanooga the other day and is now in jail here. ~Mr. I. N. SMITH has moved from Tax to Snapping Shoals. He desires to rent a store house and residence in Covington, and if he does, will locate here. ~An interesting temperance meeting came off in the court house Monday night. About 200 persons were present. Recitations were rendered by Misses MAMIE WOODRUFF and MAMIE EDWARDS. A strong temperance lecture was delivered by Miss MAUD LEE, which was cheered at every point. ~Mr. HENRY BRITTAIN, so well and favorably known here, is now with the popular dry goods house of D. H. DOUGHERTY & Co., 39 & 41 Peachtree St., Atlanta, where he is ready to meet all of his Newton County friends. Prices are reasonable, goods new and fine. Mr. Dougherty married a Newton County lady. Capt ROBT. GLASS is also a member of the firm. When you go to Atlanta be sure to call and see HENRY BRITTAIN. SOMEWHAT PERSONAL ~ Rev. T. J. SWANSON is recovering from a spell of sickness. ~Col. WOMACK and daughter, Miss NELLIE, report a nice time during their visit to Cumberland Island. ~Miss ANNIE PACE is visiting friends in Chicago, as the guest of her sister, Mrs. Dr. LUCIE OWSLEY. ~Mr. JAMES T. CORLEY is slowly recovering from a severe attack of neuralgia of the heart. ~Capt. J. P. LOYD is having a big time at Savannah and Tybee, fishing, sea bathing, etc. ~Mrs. Dr. WM. BROWN and daughter, Miss LULA, have returned form Florida, where they spent the winter. ~Prof. H. H. STONE, of Emory College, is taking a special course in Engineering, at Cambridge, Mass., during the summer. ~Rev. R. W. BIGHAM has been suffering with rheumatism for several days. Presiding Elder R. J. BIGHAM has also been on the sick list.
