L. F. Livingston spent Friday in town. He was looking well. ~Dr. John W. Heidt, of Texas, has been transferred to the North Georgia Methodist Conference. ~In all probability Judge and Mrs. P. E. Banks will move to town at an early day. ~Mr. G. F. Turner, of McDonough, lost his fine residence by fire Friday. Insurance $1,200. ~Capt. J. P. Loyd, a one armed veteran, picked 103 pounds of cotton one day not long since. ~Dr. Travis has gone to Crawford and Athens to visit and treat several cancer patients this week. ~Dr. Candler, of Emory College, preached an able sermon at St. James Church, in Augusta, Sunday last. ~Rev. L. H. Harris will occupy the Methodist pulpit here next Sunday morning and night. ~W. H. Petty reports that he has a fine lot of home raised hogs to kill this winter. ~Mrs. S. P. Thompson has been visiting friends and relatives in Jonesboro this week. ~The “little people” held a delightful sociable and pound party at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Wells, Friday evening. ~Mr. Madison Buice, of Atlanta, spent several days of last week here as the guest of his daughter, Mrs. J. P. Anderson. ~Mr. Obbie Rogers, one of Brunswick’s leading commission merchants, paid a pleasant visit to friends and loved ones here last week. ~Mr. C. E. Cook has bought out A. E. McDonald in the mercantile business and will occupy the store room of the latter. ~Mr. D. H. Roberts little son Willie, was hurt severely Saturday by getting a splinter stuck in one of his thighs. ~Our Baptist friends have called Rev. T. J. Swanson, of Greshamville to serve them as pastor of the Covington Church for another year. ~Col. J. G. Lester has been re-elected superintendent of the Methodist Sunday School here for another year. ~Mrs. H. J. Bates and Mrs. V. C. Conyers reached Chicago without accident and were in the best of health when last heard from. ~Doctor Weaver has opened an office in the old Wells store house. He is skillful and experienced physician and surgeon.
