P. Harris spent Tuesday in Greensboro. ~Miss Mittie Davis, of Rocky Plains, spent Friday last in Atlanta. ~The Henry County Weekly will support, and is already advocating, Col. Livingston for Governor. ~Mrs. Jno. B. Davis has been seriously sick for a week past, but is slowly improving. ~After several days visit here Prof. Luther M. Brittain has returned to his duties in Atlanta. ~Dr. Moore, of Oxford, preached a forcible sermon at Mt. Pleasant Church Sunday. ~Col. W. S. Upshaw has been in Monroe for several days on legal business. ~Dr. C. C. Brooks, of this city, spent a day or two recently visiting friends in Morgan County. ~Col. L. F. Livingston has been elected vice-president of the Newton County Sunday School Association. ~George Johnson, col’d, is ready to put your razors in fine order at a very trifling cost. ~Mr. Franklin Wright spent Sunday with his sister in Rocky Plains district. ~We learn that Messrs. Lee & Butler will erect a cotton seed warehouse, near the depot, at an early day. ~Hon. L. L. Middlebrook and Tax Collector A. H. S. Davis, visited McDonough Monday on legal business. ~Dr. Candler, president of Emory College, will preach at the Methodist Church in Covington next Sunday morning. ~Hon. O. S. Porter has given out the idea of visiting the Paris Exposition this summer, as his interests her will demand his close attention. ~Miss Cora Graves is doing noble work as Secretary of the Mt. Pleasant Missionary Society, which numbers 42 members. ~Mrs. Dr. Travis read a most interesting paper on Missionary work at the Methodist Church last Thursday evening. ~Mr. and Mrs. C. H. White are spending this week in Brewers district as the guests of Mr. White’s parents. ~Mr. A. C. Heard has been tickling the trout in his neighborhood with a shot gun, but so far has not killed any. ~Mr. Alex Bohannan, of Brewer’s district, is improving in health and spent Friday last cracking jokes with friends in town. ~Editor Anderson, of the Star, has treated himself to a new suit of clothes and proposes to treat his residence to a new coat of paint. ~Last week, Hon. Jas M. Smith, of Oglethorpe County, sold 18 steers, having an average weight of 1,400 pounds. ~Dr. F. B. Wright had a man to come from Rockdale county the other day to get him to perform a surgical operation. ~Brother R. J. Bigham, of Augusta, will accept our thanks for an invitation to join himself and party of friends on a camp fish in South Carolina. ~Messrs. D. A. Thompson, Jr., and Mr. James A. Farmer will take charge of the warehouse at the depot on or about September 1st. Both are live, progressive and accommodating professionals.
