S. Jarboe is doing well in the mercantile business at Snapping Shoals. ~Hon. L. F. Livingston, of Newton County, will certainly be a candidate for Governor next year. ~The Henry County Weekly, says, “will it be Stewart or will it be Womack?” ~Mrs. S. P. Thompson has been visiting friends and relatives in Jonesboro for the past week. ~Mrs. V. C. Camp left on a visit to her brother in California a few days since. ~Dr. J. S. Carroll has been elected a member of the city council three times in succession. ~Miss May Agnes Bradley, of Monticello, has been on a visit to friends and relatives here. ~Mr. Julius Hays, one of Monticello’s most progressive merchants, gave us a pleasant call Monday last. ~Adeline Glenn, one of the best colored women in our town, will probably move to Hot Springs, Arkansas, before very long. ~Rev. Mr. Rogers will preach at the Presbyterian Church here next Sunday, and every 4th Sunday thereafter. ~Friend Coleman is making many friends for himself and his coffee pot in Wilkes County, where he has been for several days past. ~Mr. James P. Simms has sold his interest in the warehouse business to his late co-partners, Messrs. Worsham & Owens. See dissolution notice. ~A delightful hop came off at the residence of Hon. T. J. Speer, in Brick Store district, one night last week.
