R. L. Simms contemplates moving to Atlanta. ~Ex-Governor McDaniel, of Monroe, was with us one day last week. ~Mr. Joseph H. Douglas returned to his home in Anniston, Ala., Thursday. ~Mr. J. W. Loyd, of Stansell’s district, has one of the brightest little boys, to his age, in the county. ~Rev. Sam W. Small was the guest of Capt. and Mrs. J. M. Pace during his recent sojourn in our city. ~Beerman & Thompson, of the Kimball house, have leased the Markham house for a period of five years. ~Mr. Wm. Pennington and family, of Morgan County, have been on a visit to friends and relatives here. ~Miss Lilla Ivy is visiting friends in Morgan County as the guest of her sister, Mrs. Wm. Pennington. ~Mr. Edward Farmer, of Anniston, Ala., has been on a visit to relatives and friends here. ~Mr. John H. Kinney, of South Georgia, is visiting friends and dear ones in Covington. ~Mr. J. S. Key, first honor graduate of Emory College, will practice law in Atlanta. ~Rev. Mr. Rogers of Atlanta, preached an interesting sermon at the Presbyterian Church here Sunday last. ~We trust auctioneers of cheap and inferior goods will give our town the go by hereafter. ~Judge T. M. Meriwether, of Washington, spent several days here recently. ~Mrs. J. G. Lester has been quite sick for several days past. Hope this good lady will soon be well again. ~Mr. James T. Corley sold a bale or two of cotton the other day at 11 ˝ cents per pound. ~Mr. Davis Harvey, of Monticello, has been shaking hands with his many friends here this week. ~Col Womack has found his fine bird dog “Leap.” A small advertisement in the Enterprise did the work. ~Judge James G. Lester, of Covington, has been attending court in Monticello this week. ~Mr. John Pitts, of Newborn, is thinking of moving to town. A cordial welcome awaits him. ~Miss Mattie Callaway, of Oglethorpe County, is visiting Covington as the guest of her sister Mrs. S. W. Hawkins. ~Dr. H. H. Tucker, one of the most forcible pulpit orators in the land, will preach at the Baptist Church in Covington next Sunday at 11 a. m. ~Capt. Saxon Anderson, of the Marietta paper mills, spent several days of last week visiting friends and relatives in this city and county. ~Little Tott, three year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Heard, who has been so seriously sick is getting well again. ~Several capitalists from abroad have been visiting Cedar Shoals recently as the guests of Hon. O. S. Porter. ~Mrs. Posey, of Rockdale County, has been on a visit to our city as the guest of her brother, Mr. I. W. Meadors.
