Banks has been quite sick since Sunday last. ~Hon. L. L. Middlebrook spent a day or two of last week at McDonough. ~Rev. W. H. LaPrade preached an interesting Easter sermon at the Methodist Church Sunday. ~Judge John Harris is getting his grass farm on Dried Indian Creek in first class order. ~Our editor and Messrs. C. H. White and A. H. S. Davis caught three sucker fish the other day that weighed 14 lbs. ~We are glad to learn that Dr. Higgins has concluded to make his home here again. ~Hon. O. S. Porter has had a new front porch added to his Cedar Shoals residence. ~Attend the decoration Friday afternoon and hear Col. Upshaw’s memorial address. ~Read the new advertisement of the National Garment Cutter and call on Mr. Henry Grahn. ~Dr. Jefferson White, of Thomasville, has been on a visit to his many friends here. He was looking fine. ~Mr. Thomas L. Anderson, of Orlando, Fla., is visiting friends and dear ones here. ~People were disappointed with Dr. Lafferty’s lecture at Music Hall, Monday night. ~Dr. J. J. Dearing attended the recent Presbytery, in Fayette Co., as a delegate from the Covington Presbyterian Church. ~Miss Loulie Hardwick, from LaGrange Female College, is spending a few days at her house at Almon, to the delight of her many friends. ~The floral decorations at the Methodist Church Sunday were placed there by Mrs. J. M. Pace and Miss Anne Pace, and they were extensive and elegant. ~Rev. C. A. Evans, of Augusta, will preach the commencement sermon for our female college this year. Geo. Evans is one of the best men in the land, and an eloquent speaker.
