B. Lee proposes to put a few channel catfish in his pond. ~Hon. S. D. Hight has presented Joe W. Wright with a Texas pony. ~Judge P. E. Banks is again confined to a bed of sickness. ~Mr. H. J. Bates, of Cartersville, spent a day or two of last week here. ~Fire got out on N. C. Lee’s, Norton place Friday, but did no damage. ~Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Wright have returned from a pleasant visit to Savannah and Augusta. ~Mr. Robert Fowler is spending several days at Roswell, with friends and relatives. ~I. W. Meadors is stocking his fish pond with perch and other native fish. ~Dr. Candler preached two forcible sermon’s at the Methodist Church here, Sunday last. ~The Henry County Times calls Hon. L. L. Middlebrook “ the handsome Mayor of Covington. ~The Henry County Times in speaking of our Tax Collector, Mr. A. H. S. Davis says: “Steve is as fat and handsome as ever.” ~Col. R. P. Lester, of Cumming, spent a few days of last week in our city as the guest of his son, Judge J. G. Lester. ~It appears as if Noah Parker, who escaped from the chain gang, has been visiting friends and relatives in Newton County. ~P. W. Warren cleaned up a Bermuda pasture and has fifty acres of the finest cotton around town, or perhaps in the county. ~Hon. W. A. Huff, of Macon, will make a most excellent president of the Road Congress which meets in Atlanta on the 22nd. ~Miss Lillie Kelly has been confined to a bed of sickness for some time. Hope this bright little Miss will soon be well again. ~We are pleased to learn that Mrs. Jno. B. Davis is recovering from a serious spell of sickness. This will be good news to her many friends in this state. ~Big hearted Gene Lee hitched up his two horse wagon Monday and turned it over “to the boys” to go on a seining expedition, while he remained hard at work in town.
