Livingston returned from a visit to South Georgia Sunday last. He was in fine health. While in Augusta he met with a warm welcome. His speech at Waynesboro is said to have been the finest effort of his life. ~Our old friend, J. F. M. Hutchins has moved his boot and shoe shop from the Star building to an up stair room in the Shepherd building over P. F. Hutchins popular store. Call on him when you have any work in his line, for his prices are low and his work first class. ~Col. Bob Watson desires us to say that he is now ready to bag 100 partridges in two days for Col. Si Hawkins 875 gun, and would be pleased to have Col. Hawkins set the time. Lithonia New Era. Newton County must be the place and the 2nd Friday and Saturday in January, 1890, the time, and we are to see at least a part of the “bagging”. In case of a failure on Col. Watson’s part to kill 100 partridges, in two days we should like to ask what he proposes to give us. ~Time after time we have spoken of the advantages of Covington and the county of Newton for honest and industrious persons in search of homes. Our water is pure and our climate healthy. Our lands are productive and homes can now be bought low. Our people are social and progressive. Our merchants pay the highest possible price for cotton and country produce, and sell goods as cheap as can any other town in Georgia. We have a public school system which grows in favor and increases in popularity. We have a street car line to Oxford. Also, have building and loan association, churches, etc. Also cotton compress, big ginneries, warehouses, etc. Live energetic persons with a little hard cash can do well here and will meet with a hearty welcome from all our people.
