M. Brittain from our female college is regretted by almost all of our people. ~Mr. Samuel Ramsey tells us that there is a large drove of wild turkeys in his neighborhood. ~Rev. W. H. LaPrade has announced that there will be preaching at the Methodist Church every Sunday morning and night. No Postponement on account of the inclemency of the weather. ~Judge Stewart has introduced a bill to prevent the buying and selling of votes at National and State elections, and for the punishment of the offenders by imprisonment not exceeding three years. ~Applicants for teachers license will have to undergo a public examination before Commissioner J. S. Stewart, at his office in Oxford, on Tuesday, January 29th, 1889, beginning at 9 o’clock a. m. Applicants must furnish evidence of good moral character, also pen, ink and paper. Only one day allowed for examination.
